Accreditation is one of the first things you should check when deciding what online college to enroll in. If the distance learning school is accredited by one of the six regional accreditation institutions, this means that you will be receiving high-quality education and that your degree will be recognized by most employees and companies.
- New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC)
- North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement(NCA)
- Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges (MSA)
- Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC)
- Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges (NWCCU)
· Southern Association of Schools and Colleges (SACS)
To know whether the online school has accreditation or not, find out what state the online school is in, then see what regional accreditation agency awards accreditation to schools in that state. Legitimate distance learning schools can also be accredited by the Distance Education Training Council.
